Team India have successfully leveled the series 1-1 after coming back from a humiliating defeat in the first test at Adelaide Oval. The victory is special for many reasons such as the absence of ace players like Virat Kohli and Shami and Rohit Sharma.
Shubhman Gill, the talented Punjab Batsman, has shown his worth in both the innings of his debut match. He never seemed uncomfortable, played at ease after surviving the initial jitters. Mohammed Siraj was fuming with his bowling as he enters the elite list of visiting fast bowlers taking 5 or more wickets on debut in Australia.
Captain Rahane gets the prestigious Man of the Match award for his outstanding performance in both innings. Rahane also happens to be the first recipient of the Mullagh Medal, named after the first indigenous Aussie cricketer, Johnny Mullagh. Johnny Mullagh was part of the 1868 indigenous Aussie team to tour internationally.
Indian Bowling Unit needs a special mention as India were left with four specialized bowlers after Umesh Yadav got injured after giving India a perfect head-start by picking Burns. But Bumrah and Siraj fill in the void with exceptional spells taking regular wickets.
This victory will be remembered for so many reasons. Team India will get Rohit Sharma in the third test, starting from 7th January 2021 at Sydney Cricket Ground.
