Team India reluctant to play Gabba Test owing to stricter lockdown

Team India

Team India is quite reluctant to play the fourth and final test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy at Brisbane, Australia, starting from 15th January 2021. They have expressed their concern owing to a stricter quarantine at Queensland, Australia.

Team India was quarantining in Dubai before stepping into Sydney, Australia. They quarantined for another 14 days upon their entry into Australia. They had their fair share of quarantines and bio-bubble during their long tour in Australia.

All hell breaks loose when 5 Indian players including vice-captain Rohit Sharma and Wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant were kept in isolation after they were spotted dining at a restaurant. They were said to be maintaining covid protocols while dining. Notwithstandings, they were put in isolation, a merry Aussie stress-building strategy.

Team India is not happy with this treatment as they expect a similar treatment as a fellow Australian. The Queensland Govt. is not being lenient with Team India as they firmly criticize this move, saying they will stick to their quarantine policy and will not bend for the behest of the Indian Cricket Team.

Team India has been told to stick to the rules or not to come

Australian Team was not that happy with this stricter quarantine as well. But, Matthew Wade, the opening batsman said that they are ready to sacrifice their freedom of movement for the sake of the game. They expect the fourth match to be held at Gabba, instead of playing at Sydney twice, which Team India has preferred. India has never won a match at Gabba ever, which could be the reason for the Aussies to cheer about. The series is at 1-1 now.

Such long tours turn out to be extremely stressful if stricter quarantine is imposed on the players. They are only allowed to visit the ground and the hotel, not anywhere else. Team India has been co-operating with Cricket Australia on COvid protocols sincerely. The fate of the final match is in question.
